WHAT IS MOVEMENT LANGUAGE?

Movement Language is...

the communication system horses naturally speak—the language of presence, energy, rhythm, and embodied intention.

Inside For The Horse Community, you'll master Movement Language through the Patterns of Reciprocity™

This is where theory becomes embodied practice.

Instead of relying on mechanical or force-based methods, you'll learn to translate your thoughts into movement your horse reads and understands—the same way they communicate with each other.

The Patterns don't change based on the complexity of the movement.

They work the same whether you're asking for a walk-halt transition or Spanish Walk. The language stays consistent. Only the conversation deepens.

Voice notes, videos, teaching moments, and reflections from my ongoing work with horses. You see the thought process behind the practice—the refinements, the questions, the breakthroughs, the moments when a horse teaches me something new.

This is where theory becomes lived experience. Where you witness Movement Language in action across different horses, different challenges, different days.

  • The transition from mind → body → action made conscious and clear

  • Why horses respond to embodied intention, not mechanical dictation

We practice these Patterns together, at every level of riding. From basic groundwork to Grand Prix, the Patterns scale to meet you where you are.

Private Community Space

A quiet, intentional online space to ask questions, share discoveries, receive feedback, and connect with other riders who understand what it means to speak your horse's language.

This is not a typical horse training community filled with conflicting advice and judgment. This is a space for riders committed to Movement Language—practice the Patterns together, get coached directly for Chris, learn from each other's experiences, and support your journey from method-based training to embodied communication.

THIS IS FOR YOU IF:

✓ You're a rider, coach, or horse owner craving more than method-based training

✓ You've read Going Beyond and want structured support to embody the principles

✓ You're feeling the shift toward deeper communication and need a community who understands

✓ You've done the Movement Language Course want to practice Movement Language as a lifestyle, not just a technique

✓ You're ready to discover where intention meets movement, stillness meets resonance, and how deeply you can truly connect with your horse

✓ You're tired of drilling, forcing, or relying on mechanical aids to communicate

✓ You know horses speak a different language—and you're ready to learn it

WHERE FEEL MEETS STRUCTURE

For The Horse Community gives you the mastery:

→ Patterns of Reciprocity™ practiced weekly
→ Ongoing coaching from Chris as you integrate Movement Language daily
→ A community fluent in your horse's native language
→ The structure and support to transform inspiration into embodied practice

This is not another training method. It's learning to communicate in the language horses have been speaking for thousands of years—while we've been focused on aids, cues, and control.

Movement Language With Horses works because it's not training at all. It's communication. Reciprocity. Partnership. Good movement.

WHAT MEMBERS ARE SAYING

"The shift has been profound. And learning how other riders approach this, makes it even richer. I couldn't do this alone. I'm so intrigued, thank you!"Terry, 50 years riding

"I have owned horses and trained many over the years, but this was a first for me. I enjoyed the video your narratives and the discussions. The dialogue was very educational. It was refreshing to see a newer movement being taught to your beautiful horse, and never once did you force or overcorrect the horse. We need to see more of this as it is not always being taught in today's world. My aha is seeing the connection between you and your horse, something us riders want to achieve."Donna, Dressage trainer

"My Aha since joining the Community is the importance of clarity and communication to connect, and how with horses, it is so sensory based. My two brumbies, who are very in tune with their 'inner horse', show me that to connect with them I have to really learn their behaviour and language ... it is all sensory based and here I am in this Community piecing it all together." Natasha, Dressage Rider

ABOUT CHRIS ADDERSON

Chris Adderson is the founder of For The Horse and the creator of Movement Language, a communication system built on 40+ years at the intersection of classical dressage, professional dance training, and kinesiology.

That intersection is deliberate. Kinesiology gave Chris a precise understanding of how bodies create and receive movement. Dance gave her an embodied vocabulary for it. Decades of classical dressage gave her the horse. The Patterns of Reciprocity™ framework emerged from synthesizing all three into something horses already understand and riders can actually learn.

Chris is the author of Going Beyond: Mastering Unspoken Connections and has worked with over 2,000 riders worldwide. She operates a farm sanctuary for rescued horses and an educational facility in BC, Canada, and has received the Shining World Compassion Award for her approach to horse interactions.

Movement Language is her life's work. Not a method borrowed from others and refined, but an original framework developed through decades of close observation, rigorous study, and practice with real horses.

ONE MORE THING BEFORE YOU JOIN

Remember: This looks like "nothing" because it's happening in the language horses understand—not the language human observers expect to see.

When you watch Movement Language in action (like the Spanish Walk demonstration in the mini-course), you might think "I don't see anything different."

That's exactly the point.

What looks like "nothing" from the outside is actually continuous micro-adjustments at the level of thought—translating through your body in ways your horse reads instantly but cameras rarely capture.

Your job isn't to copy what I'm doing externally.

Your job is to learn the internal process that creates this quality of communication—and then apply it at YOUR level, with YOUR horse, in YOUR riding.

That's what For The Horse Community teaches.

And that's what the monthly live sessions, the Patterns, and ongoing community support help you embody—every day, at every level.

Frequently asked questions

About Our Brand

What is Movement Language?

Movement Language is the communication system horses naturally speak—the language of presence, energy, rhythm, and embodied intention. Instead of relying on mechanical approaches, riders learn to translate their thoughts into movement their horse reads and understands. Created over 40 years of study combining classical dressage, professional dance, and kinesiology.

How is the Community different from the Movement Language course?

The Movement Language course teaches you 3 of the 7 Patterns of Reciprocity™—the foundation. For The Horse Community supports these Patterns with weekly live practice sessions with Chris, ongoing community support, and structured learning tools to integrate Movement Language into your daily riding. The course is an introduction. The Community is mastery.

What are the Patterns of Reciprocity™?

The Patterns of Reciprocity™ are the complete framework for Movement Language communication with horses. Each Pattern teaches a specific aspect of how thoughts translate through your body into action your horse understands. You learn 3 Patterns in the Movement Language course. You master them inside the Community through weekly live sessions and ongoing practice.

About Our products

Do I need to have read GOING BEYOND to join?

No. While the book Going Beyond: Mastering Unspoken Connections enhances your experience and deepens your understanding of the philosophy behind Movement Language, it's not required. All principles are taught inside the Community through weekly live sessions, video demonstrations, and learning materials.

What happens in the weekly live sessions?

Each week, I lead a focused session exploring one of the 7 Patterns through movement demonstrations with horses, real-time teaching moments, and open Q&A. You can ask about your specific challenges—whether that's mounting, trailer loading, spooking, transitions, or advanced movements—and receive direct guidance on applying Movement Language horse training to your situation.

Is this only for advance riders?

No. Movement Language works at every level—from mounting to Spanish Walk, etc. The Patterns scale to your experience. Whether you're working on basic walk-halt transitions or preparing for Grand Prix, you're learning the same communication system. The language doesn't change. Only the conversation deepens.

Should I choose monthly or annual?

Monthly ($247/month) makes sense when:

  • The annual investment isn't accessible right now, and monthly is the realistic path in
  • Your financial situation is genuinely in flux and committing $2,470 upfront isn't responsible at this stage
  • You're between horses, between barns, or in a season where consistent practice isn't possible yet and you want to wait until you can fully use what the community offers

Annual ($2,470/year) makes sense when:

  • You know this work is your long-term path and want the investment to reflect that
  • You're working through the Patterns of Reciprocity™ systematically and understand that depth takes time
  • You want to free up mental bandwidth from a monthly billing decision and stay focused on your practice
  • The savings (two months of membership) matter, and you'd rather put that toward your horse or barn costs
  • You've already experienced the community and you know what you're committing to

About orders

What if I don't ride English or do dressage?

Movement Language transcends discipline. Western riders, trail riders, natural horsemanship practitioners, dressage riders, jumpers—all learn the same Patterns because horses speak the same language regardless of what saddle you use. This is about communication, not method.

How much time do I need to commit?

The weekly live session is typically 60 minutes. Beyond that, you engage with the Community and practice the Patterns at your own pace. Some members check in daily, others weekly. You take what you need when you need it. Your membership doesn't expire—the learning library and community are always available.

Can I cancel anytime?

Monthly membership continues until you choose to stop. There are no contracts or lock-in periods. Annual membership is a one-year commitment, and like most annual subscriptions, it isn't refundable mid-term.

That said, most members who leave do so because life circumstances change, not because the work stopped being valuable. If something shifts for you, reach out before you cancel. Sometimes a pause or a conversation is a better fit than a full exit.

How do I access the Community after joining?

Immediately after joining, you'll receive login credentials via email. You'll access the Community through our member portal, where you'll find the live session calendar, learning library, discussion forums, and all member resources. Everything is in one place.
